 Many times people confuse Protection dogs with Sentry/Guard dogs.  Protection dogs are command trained.  Command trained means they can hang with the family and be a regular dog, but when its time to work they jump to it. ( Sentry dogs are the "junk yard dogs" That attack anyone that comes into their domain.)   Protection dogs are trained to protect their owner, their home or the owner's vehicle.  We only train dogs that have a level head and stable temperament.  You don't want to train a dog in protection if it doesn't have an on and off switch.  Obedience is included with the bite training.  Obedience is important when training a dog for protection.  It does no good to have a protection dog if you can't control it.  Not all dogs (regardless of breed) are suited for this type of work, so your dog will need to have an assessment to make sure it has the desired traits and temperament.
